CR to CA and back again
Trust has been the glue holding us together.
In September of 2023 we decided to turn our trip to California into an extended stay. We had just started the build of our family home in Costa Rica and the rental we had been living in was starting to wear on us. With no insulation and no AC in the main living space we were sequestered to the bedroom. We quickly realized that once Benson started to crawl and walk he would need more room to move around freely.
We postponed the flight a month to get our sh*t in order, rented a storage space and moved all of our possessions over, packed the essentials and the cat, and headed north to Pats home state.
Landing in Los Olivos, California has been a breath of fresh air; literally. With warm days and cool evenings we have found comfort in drinking hot tea and not immediately sweating. Although we love CR and are so excited to get back there and move into our home we also acknowledge the challenges it comes with. For me that’s specifically the heat.
As our time has gone on here in CA, and our build had to come to a stop for a couple of months, I have started to feel an itch to create. So I followed the pull and set up my dye studio here. I have found a plethora of vintage and forgotten pieces that I have had the pleasure of recreating. There is an abundance of native plants to dye with just from our backyard and I am learning the nuances of these beauties.
It took trust to step over the hurdle of not knowing how long we will be here. It is paying off now. Our build has started again and pieces are selling at our amazing stockists here in the Valley. Our story is never ending and our mantra is “trust”. If we keep following our hearts pull and trust the process it always falls into place. To be continued…
